Zulfahmi finish 9th at Brno

This quite a bit of news, a Malaysian rider finishing in the top 10 of the 125cc class of  the MotorGP at the Czech Republic.

Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin who rides for Air Asia-SIC-Ajo Motorsports had suffered a two-race drought and this performance in Brno certainly restores his reputation as a credible MotoGP racer.

I certainly hope that he will go from strength to strength, maybe get into the top 5 by next year and finish the season in the top 10.

For this year you just keep scoring points Zul, you are doing great!!

For this year he targets 15th place in the championship table, not too shabby for a newbie and with the Brno result he now has 20 points and is in 16th place.

PRESS RELEASE

Best ever finish for Fahmi in Brno as Malaysia;s young rider ends drought in style!

MUHAMMAD Zulfahmi Khairuddin ended his drought of two races in style when he achieved his best ever grand prix finish in the 125 cc class MotoGP World Championship when he ended the 125cc class MotoGP World Championship round in 9th place at Brno, Republic Czech yesterday.

Returning to the scene where he scored a solitary point to open up account on his debut season, Fahmi wearing the colours of Air Asia-SIC-Ajo Motorsport, jumped 6 places on the grid to secure a top 10 finish for the first time in two years involvement in MotoGP, scoring 7 points in the process.

SIC Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Razlan Razali was obviously elated over this fantastic result hailing it as the 'best Hari Raya present for all Malaysians.'

"This result is a perfect Hari Raya present for all Malaysians with Fahmi producing his best ever position in 9th. I was biting my nails when he was dicing with a group of 3 or 4 experienced riders with Fahmi coming out victorious.

"What an excellent performance for Fahmi and we hope he continues to do well in the coming of rounds," said Razlan. Starting the race in 15th on the grid, Fahmi showed his intentions early on as he jumped to 13th on the first lap in dry conditions, beginning his steady ascent to 12th on the third lap before making a late push on the 19th lap to end the race, +42.887 behind first time winner, Sandro Cortese (Intact-Racing Team Germany) who passed the checkered flag in 40'59.229.

Fahmi's excellent performance puts him in 16th place, with 20 points, edging him closer to finishing the season in his intended target, 15th place.
