Peugeot 508 coming later this month

Peugeot distributor, Nasim Sdn Bhd is working on a late October launch of the 508, a car designed to replace both the 407 and 607.

We tested the 508 in Alicante, Spain earlier this year and was impressed with the size and level of refinement offered by the big lion.

If priced properly, the 508 is a rather delicious alternative to the typical D-Segment Japanese car and entry-level European executive transport like the Volvo S40.

There is no indication which variant(s) will make it to our shores but expect them to be well specified with particular attention to convenience and entertainment options, Naza has developed a reputation for offering a nice package of equipment at a good price, just take a look at the current Kia and Peugeot line-up.

NASIM TO LAUNCH THE ALL-NEW PEUGEOT 508

To commemorate a record-breaking year, Nasim Sdn Bhd is set to unveil the internationally acclaimed and award winning Peugeot 508 later this month.

In what is promising to be one of the most highly-anticipated launches of the year, the all-new 508 embodies the French carmaker’s latest design direction and incorporates the latest technologies to offer an exhilarating experience in ride and comfort.

The launch coincides with yet another milestone recently recorded by Nasim. As at end Sept 30, 2011, Peugeot sales surpassed the 4,000 mark in Malaysia for the first time.

“As at end-September, we have sold over 4,000 units which is a new record for the Peugeot brand in Malaysia. This is double our sales in the same period in 2010 and surpasses our all-time record of 3,773 units in 2009,” said SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, CEO of Nasim and Joint Group Executive Chairman of the Naza Group.

“The all-new 508 will further increase our sales volume this year. This premium luxury sedan will be targeted at executives and professionals that want a car with class, character and panache,” he added.

Named ‘Best New Car of 2011’ by the UK’s Fleet World magazine, the new 508 features perfectly balanced and streamlined contours reflecting an elegant yet robust build quality.

At the front, the 508 features Peugeot’s new design direction with a “floating” grille and headlamps that feature signature circular LED daytime running lights.

Inside, the 508 offers the finest in elegance in comfort with a range of premium features such as quad-zone air conditioning, premium leather, a colour head-up display (HUD), an adaptive high beam system connected to directional bi-Xenon headlamps and a 10-speaker JBL hi-fi system with a 500 W surround sound amplifier with Arkamys audio processing.

Like all Peugeots, the new 508 offers an exhilarating driving experience. Underneath its hood, the 508 is powered by an award-winning efficient and eco-friendly high-precision turbocharged engine which produces 156 hp and 240 Nm of torque.

This power is further complemented by an automatic six-speed transmission that can be operated by steering mounted paddle shifters for a more dynamic and sporty drive. The all-new 508 has picked up several awards such as the 2010 Auto Trophy in Germany where it was voted for the top award ahead of 18 other models.
