Autobild suggest this is the E-Class Update

The current W212 E-Class was previewed through leaked photos as early as two years before its introduction, this happened as Stuttgart made the decision to move away from the four-eyes design language and return to their roots of large calm surfaces and very Technical, Teutonic look. They had to be sure that the design would work so they leaked it out early to gauge response.

The E-Class is a runaway success and so it is time to take the new design language to a new level and this was shown by the new A-Class and B-Class that were launched recently.

If influential German magazien Autobild is correct, then this is what the facelifted E-Class would look like. Clearly the artist took cues from the facelifted C-Class for the headlamp treatment and projected it onto the bigger car but it does seem likely that Mercedes-Benz would come up with something quite similar.
