This appears to be the case. Just take a look at these scanned documents that appeared on Autoblog a few hours ago and it seems fairly conclusive that Mercedes-Benz is looking at a stretched SLS.
In the patent filing the rear doors look like they are half-sized like the suicide door on the Mazda RX8 which allows for four proper seats to be fitted in the cabin while giving everyone decent access for ingress and egress.
However the drawing also shows the clear seats clearly through the rear door opening, which may either mean that the rear doors are full sized or the rear seats are not meant for adults.
Mercedes-Benz pushed the envelope with the CLS four-door coupe and the current trend for spacious supercars like the Ferrari FF, Aston Martin Rapide means that there are enough wealthy motorists to support family-oriented performance cars.
However we have to keep in mind that companies file patents all the time just to protect future business opportunities so this could be one of those filings.
