MALAYSIAN MotoGP set to achieve record breaking numbers again this year
Tickets for F Grandstand and B Hillstand all sold out yesterday with only 8 days to go till the action heats up
THE Shell Advance Malaysian MotoGP is set to achieve record breaking numbers again after the organisers, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) announced that all F Grandstand and B Hillstand has been sold out by yesterday.
“As of the end of yesterday, we are pleased to announce that all the tickets for F Grandstand and B Hillstand have been sold out,” said SIC Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Razlan Razali.
“We are also excited to reveal that that we have achieved 50% of the targeted revenue mark before Race Day next weekend on the 23rd October.
“Compared to this stage last year, we have sold even more tickets than before and we are confident of breaking 2010’s attendance record of 105,000.
“We are targeting 65,000 spectators for Race, and with this latest figures, we are hoping to reach 110,000 this time around.
“A carnival atmosphere is assured at this year’s MotoGP as all vending booths have been sold out as well as hospitality packages.
“We are excited to have with us the presence of local companies such Faito, Racing Boy, to international brands such as Alpinestar, Dainese. We even have VR46 the official merchandiser for Valetino Rossi to showcase their products over the weekend, which will surely delight his legion of die-hard fans.
“The fans are in for a treat as this year’s Malaysian MotoGP will be one the most exciting in recent years as championship leader, Casey Stoner battles with defending champion, Jorge Lorenzo for the right to be crowned overall champion.
“The battle for the MotoGP title is expected to go down the wire with Sepang holding the key to the destiny of the premier class title.
“Besides that, for the first we will be witnessing 4 Malaysians on the grid, led by our 125 cc class rider, Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin and wildcard Mohd Farid Badrul Hisham.
“Two more local wildcards will be joining them from Moto2 making it the highest number of Malaysian participation since the world championships started in 1949. That alone is worth the price of admission alone,” enthused Razlan.
The increase for this year’s attendance has been attributed to the efforts of SIC who have embarked on a series of promotions in a bid to attract spectators to for the biggest two wheel race in Malaysia.
To avoid missing out on the fun, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets before race days. Purchasing tickets need not be a hassle involving long queues under the blazing sun. Rather it can be a leisurely experience done while surfing on the internet, through social networking website, facebook.
The number Sepang Circuit fans has increased tremendously with 60,000 likes, a far cry of only 11,000 since its launch and is aiming to reach 70,000 by the end of race day on the 23rd of October.
Facebook fans will be given the opportunity to win exclusive money can’t buy offers and be rewarded with an exclusive guided pit tour for the highest amount spent over the week.

Visa Card holders must present their Visa card in order to enjoy the discount and hence this privilege is not available through the internet sales channel.
There are other multiple channels of ticket outlets for the die-hard racing fan to choose from, with the SIC ticket counter at the circuit now open 7 days a week and ticket booths conveniently located in hot spots around Klang Valley in KLCC, KL Sentral (Transit Concourse, Level 1) and Lot 10.
Except for F Granddstand and B Hillstand, race tickets are still available with tickets for 2 days (Saturday and Sunday) for the Main Grandstand going for RM120, while K1 Grandstand for 2 days can be purchased for RM70 and RM50 respectively.
